People say that the average person can go without food for about 3 weeks but can only survive without water for a matter of days. Food and water are some of the most basic necessities for human life, and yet many people aren’t privy to these basic necessities.

Under the aegis of the United Nations (UN)’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the 16th of October is celebrated as World Food Day. The FAO has been creating awareness around one of the world’s most taxing challenges for decades – hunger and malnutrition. However, millions of people still lack food security, with around 735 million people currently facing hunger– a 122 million jump from 2019 alone.Every year, the UN’s FAO dedicates a theme around issues related to food and promotes awareness and education on these themes. More than 150 nations collaborate to spread the word about world hunger and the ways to tackle it.

World Food Day 2023

Water is one of the most essential aspects of food and hunger worldwide. Water is pretty much ever-present in every aspect of our lives and crucial for life on earth. Almost everything around you requires water to make. Food, clothes, gadgets, furniture, buildings, etc. all use a certain amount of water (water footprint) at one step or the other in the process of creation.

Despite covering 71% of the earth’s surface, only 2.5% of water is fresh and suitable for drinking and food production. Water resources are depleting so rapidly that the water availability per capita has declined by 20%over the past 20 years, forcing a staggering 2.4 billion people to live in water-stressed countries. By 2025, it is estimated that half of the world’s population could live in water-stressed regions, causing demand to outgrow freshwater supply.

Recognising this, FAO has focused on the importance of water for World Food Day 2023 with the slogan ‘Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind’.

The FAO is creating and promoting awareness of the importance of saving water and ensuring that water is distributed equally, as even food and other essential agricultural commodities are produced with less water. On World Food Day, the emphasis is on ensuring that the entire earth’s aquatic food systems are preserved and that no one is left behind in water availability and judicial use. Efforts to ensure sustainable availability and efficient water use, especially freshwater, include government policies and incentivising farmers and the private sector.

Water Is An Irreplaceable Part Of Our Lives

So essential is water for life on earth, which all living organisms depend on. This is truer for humans since water not only comprises a significant part of the human adult body but also serves essential functions such as:

  • Metabolising and transporting carbohydrates and proteins in the bloodstream
  • Aiding in digestion and forming saliva
  • Regulating internal body temperature by sweating and respiration
  • Assisting in flushing waste from the body, mainly through urination
  • Acting as a shock absorber for brain, spinal cord, and foetus

With an average adult ideally needing an average of 8-10 glasses of water daily to function correctly, ensuring that our drinking water is safe is essential.

About 70% of India’s surface water is polluted.  On the one hand, the freshwater supply is depleting. On the other hand, rising population and rapid industrialisation are polluting the existing freshwater resources. As a result, even the available fresh drinking water for us is not void of contaminants. From roughly two hundred deadly commercial chemicals to bacteria, viruses and inorganic minerals making water hard, the water we drink today is far from pure and fresh. According to WHO, this is why nearly 3.4 million people die yearly from water-borne diseases.

QNET India is doing its bit to promote awareness around clean freshwater and its significance for all life on earth. QNET products encapsulate the FAO’s ‘Water is Life, and Water is Food’ theme by ensuring the industry’s best quality water. On World Food Day 2023, we look at how QNET India’s water purifiers and filters contribute to the UN’s vision of making sustainable, clean freshwater available.

Kent-QNET RO Water Purifier: The Right Solution To Clean and Healthy Water

With impurity levels so high, merely boiling our drinking water just won’t cut it. Moreover, water output with high TDS levels is a very common issue across India. This is why QNET India has collaborated with Kent to present the KENT-QNET RO Water Purifier and bring Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification technology. While RO purifiers remove dissolved impurities, most of them also filter out some essential minerals from the drinking water and make it somewhat acidic.

On the other hand, The KENT-QNET water purifier’s innovative mineral RO technology and alkaline feature (giving you 8+ pH clean water!) not only clean our drinking water through a multi-step filtration and purification process but also helps maintain optimum pH and TDS levels to ensure safe, healthy, alkaline drinking water. It uses a semipermeable membrane with capillaries as small as 0.0001 microns to remove dissolved impurities such as salts, contaminants and heavy metals from water. As a result, Kent-QNET RO water purifiers can remove up to 99%+ of dissolved salts (ions), particles, colloids, organics, bacteria and pyrogens from our drinking water to make them safe and drinkable.

Since human blood is naturally slightly alkaline with roughly 7.4 pH levels, even minor fluctuations of merely 0.5 in our blood pH can cause severe health risks. The Kent RO water purifier ensures that such health risks can be avoided by providing alkaline water that helps restore the balance in our bodies. Kent’s Save Water Technology also uses a computer-controlled process that recovers more than 50% water as purified water as compared to the 20% in conventional water purifiers. The rejected water is stored in a separate tank which can be utilised for cleaning, swabbing, and watering plants, resulting in less water wastage.

HomePure Nova Complete Water Line by QNET

HomePure Nova: Advanced Pi-Water Filtration System

The vicious cycle of drinking bottled water is a big contributor to water pollution. Today, in urban communities, the vast consumption of bottled water has led to millions of tonnes of plastic polluting our environment. With so much plastic being discarded into our environment, the water bodies everywhere are filled with chemicals, waste, plastic, and pollutants.

It has now become imperative that everyone is aware of how contaminated the so-called freshwater is. Most of the water we consume in urban communities tends to be pre-treated water supplied by the local government. Hence, total dissolved solids (TDS) and many chemicals are swimming in our drinking water.

This is why QNET India has brought HomePure Nova water filters to protect our families by providing them with scientifically clean water. The HomePure Water Filtration System is built with a 9-stage filtration system and is ideal with pre-treated water input only and TDS levels less than 300 ppm.

  1. Sediment filter
  2. High-performing activated carbon block filter
  3. Coral sand from Japan
  4. Pi-water ceramic balls from Japan
  5. Far infrared ray ball (fir)
  6. Negative ions balls
  7. Antibacterial carbon powder
  8. 35+ ultra tech filter technology
  9. Antibacterial silver-lite stone.

Watch the video below to know more about the best water filter by QNET:

The 35+ filter technology that HomePure Nova is equipped with ensures that 99.99% of viruses and 99.9999% of bacteria are reduced in our drinking water. The water filter also houses an enhanced LED indicator with lifetime mode and has a lifespan of over 5,000 litres. As a result, the water filter is good for up to 6 persons per year. It is certified by independent certification organisations worldwide, including NSF/ANSI, to reduce chlorine and health-related contaminants like particulates and inactivation of pathogens.

With products like the KENT-QNET RO water purifier and the HomePure Nova water filter, QNET India is committed to contributing towards the preservation and restoration of freshwater in the environment this year, especially on this year’s World Food Day on the 16th of October, where the theme is ‘Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind’.
