Now that you are a proud owner of a luxury watch from Chairos, it is important to know how to care for your timepiece. A unique masterpiece, your Chairos watch from QNET is made of many individual components, carefully designed to the last detail. This miniaturized engine works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to accompany you in your every day’s adventure.

A good quality watch needs tender, loving care to maintain its timeless appeal. Whether you have a large collection of watches or just one or two that you really love, taking care of your watches the right way will keep them running for years.

We have put together a short guide with some tips to help you keep your Chairos watches in immaculate condition. We hope that you find these watch care tips helpful.  It is always our hope that you enjoy your investment for many years to come.

Temperature

Avoid extreme temperatures.  Exposing your watch to high temperatures, such as placing it on the dashboard of your car, may cause the watch to malfunction, shorten battery life or damage certain components. Leaving the watch in extreme cold temperatures may cause irregular timekeeping until the watch returns to normal operating temperature.

Cleaning

You should wipe your watch with a clean, soft cloth regularly.  Stains, water spots and accumulated dirt on the case, crystal, and bank that are not removed may cause premature wear.  If you use your watch in the shower, or in chlorinated or salt water, you should rinse it with fresh water and thoroughly dry it afterward.

Care for Metal Bracelets

Since the watch bracelet has continued close contact with the skin, it collects dust and perspiration over time and becomes soiled if not cleaned regularly. This is particularly true of the inner parts of the links or mesh of the bracelet. Soil and rust, mixed with perspiration can cause staining of cuffs and irritation of the skin in some instances.

  • Heavy perspiration should be wiped off the watch and bracelet with a soft dry cloth.
  • The bracelet should be cleaned occasionally by using a soft brush and warm soapy water after which the soap should thoroughly removed and the bracelet dried completely.
  • To maintain water-resistance, make sure the crown of the watch is firmly against the case. But also have your watch checked once a year for water-resistance. Condensation inside a watch is an indication that water-resistance has been affected.

Note: If your watch is not water resistant, the above method is not applicable. Please take it to a jeweler for professional cleaning.

Care for Leather Straps

  • Heavy perspiration on a leather strap over a prolonged period can wash out the natural oils and cause the leather to become dry and deteriorate.
  • Any moisture should be blotted with a soft cloth or paper towel and the strap allowed to dry naturally. Salt residue and soil can be removed from the leather by cleaning with a dampened soft cloth and mild soap
  • Occasionally, the inside surface of the strap should be cleaned by using a soft cloth dampened with alcohol.
  • The strap should always be worn a little loosely (one finger space between wrist and strap) to allow air to circulate thus allowing any moisture to evaporate.

Care for Mechanical Watches

  • If you have a manual mechanical watch (hand-wound), wind it every morning. The watch’s performance will be at its peak when it’s fully wound, not if it is running low on energy.
  • Service mechanical watches, once every 3 to 5 years to have the mechanics checked and re-lubricated. The tiny parts inside the watch are under tremendous strain, so friction is their greatest enemy. Lubrication prevents the bearings from drying out and grinding away the steel parts.
  • Stay clear of strong magnetic fields. You could magnetize your watch inadvertently and cause erratic gear behavior. The watch may also stop entirely! Most modern-day mechanical watches have some magnetic resistance, but you should still be careful. If you have an older watch, it may be more at risk.

Even the best quality Swiss made watches require care and maintenance and replacing a broken watch is much more expensive than maintaining one you already have. Think of your Chairos luxury watch like a car. A car requires regular cleaning, maintenance, and servicing. You wouldn’t wait to bring it to the mechanic until the engine is busted. Similarly, take care of your timepiece with these care tips to keep it in perfect working order for years to come.
