What’s Special about Himalayan Crystals?

The valleys and lower ranges of the Himalayan mountain regions are strikingly poor in minerals of economic value. These areas are populated with the goat herding hills people and well-traversed by tourists and mountaineers. Hence, there is very little likelihood that deposits of well-known minerals would have escaped notice. However, in the remote and untraveled wilderness in the more dangerous and rugged tracts of the great mountains, there are many rare minerals that are yet to be discovered.

The majority of gemstones, other than diamonds, are found in pegmatites, crystalline marbles, and gneisses. These rocks are produced in mother earth’s own nature laboratory through an unusual combination of circumstances. Consequently, though the parent rocks are more commonly found in the Himalayas, the specific minerals that make up the precious stones appear on rarer occasions. Much rarer are the naturally occurring clear quartz crystals that have formed over millions of years, exposed to harsh weather of the high mountains, including snow, wind and ice.

Clear Quartz is created when liquid magma from a volcanic explosion cools down and transforms into igneous rocks. During this cooling down period, silica acid bubbles shift from being a gas/liquid into a solid compound. The bubble becomes a hollow space in the igneous rock and the silica acid becomes Quartz crystals. If no trace elements are present to change its color, the silica acid becomes Clear Quartz.

Himalayan quartz crystals cannot be machine mined. The miners must hike to the mining areas on trails rather than roads, and must hand carry the crystal points they find back down the mountains.

The crystals that make up QNET’s Himalayan Crystal Jewellery collection were extracted by hand in the clear air of the Himalayas, between 10,000 to 15,000 feet above sea level. These crystals were then carried in knapsacks by sherpas and mules over a distance of 7 walking days through rugged mountainous trails. These quartz deposits are considered to be the oldest and highest deposits known to man.

Out of each 20 kilos mined by hand and brought back by the sherpas, only about 2 kilos of stones are of good enough quality to reach our jewelers.

Absolutely no machines were used, and no mining or blasting was done to acquire these crystals. They have been cleared of their growing matrix, so that their facets and clarity can be seen. These crystals are in their natural state, unpolished.

In this region the locals believe that the crystals are the “Eyes of God’ that have the yang energies of the tallest mountains of earth. They believe that the crystals hold the knowledge and wisdom of all the holy men and ancient sages who ventured high into the Himalayas seeking enlightenment.

All quartz crystals have 6 primary properties. They are able to structure, store, amplify, focus, transmit and transform energy, which includes matter, thought, emotion and information. Metaphysical quartz formations possess additional properties based on their geometry, the properties of numbers and other specific features.

The properties of quartz are not confined solely to the metaphysical. The electronics industry widely uses the ability of quartz to precisely structure and control frequencies. In healing and personal development, not dissimilar properties allow quartz crystals to act like tuning forks, gently but powerfully returning our body’s frequencies to a healthier, natural state. Quartz naturally balances and energizes both our bodies.

The intrinsic properties of all quartz crystals include healing, cleansing, balancing and strengthening the chakras, resulting in physical, mental and emotional well-being as well as initiating and strengthening our innate intuitive abilities.

Quartz crystals from the Himalayas are considered a stone of power, amplifying energy and intention, helping to shield one from negativity. People have often reported that there is a very personal high-frequency energy exchange when they come in contact with these extraordinary Himalayan Crystals.
